YCBN Online Global Dialogue on WASH: Global WASH Accountability

Youth Capacity Building Network (YCBN) is bringing together African and global WASH practitioners, aspiring WASH ambassadors, development partners, donors, government institutions, and civil society actors for a timely global conversation on accountability, leadership, and collective action in sanitation.

Guest speaker Dominic O'Neill, Executive Director of The Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF), joins host Mwanje Frank, Executive Director, and moderator Simon Peter Kigozi, Public Relations Officer, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM EAT.

WASH for Infection Prevention & AMR Action Initiative

YCBN, in conjunction with the MUG Foundation, will deliver practical WASH skills, hygiene education, and handwashing facility support at Kasengejje Primary School, Wakiso - championing clean water, safe hands, fewer infections, and less AMR risk under the rallying call, "Together for healthier communities."

Nurturing Generational Leaders: YCBN's Leadership Ethics Outreach at St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School

YCBN undertook a capacity-development visit to St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School in Kibiri, engaging student leaders and prefects on leadership ethics, responsibility, and effective student governance.

The delegation included Mr. Mulwanyi Robert, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors; Mr. Mwanje Frank Abdallah, Executive Director; and Mr. Kigozi Simon, Public Relations Officer.

Unlocking Wealth Within: A New Era of Resource Mobilization for African NGOs

YCBN invites civil society leaders, changemakers, and youth advocates to an upcoming Continental Dialogue exploring sustainable resource mobilization, local funding models, and modern frameworks for organizational growth.

Unite for Girls: Empowering Communities Ahead of the International Day of the Girl Child

YCBN will join member organizations of the Wezesha Girls Network Uganda for a community outreach hosted by Raising Teenagers Uganda (RTU) in Namayumba Sub-County, Wakiso District, ahead of the October 11 International Day of the Girl Child.

Under the rallying cry, "When girls unite, communities transform," teams will provide scholastic materials, menstrual health support, and sensitization and mentorship on self-esteem, girls' rights, and community empowerment.

Advancing Girls' Rights through SRHR Advocacy and Storytelling

YCBN participated in a high-impact grassroots advocacy engagement hosted by member organizations of the Wezesha Girls Network at Lishi Resort Hotel in Kyanja under the theme, "Advancing Girls Rights through SRHR Advocacy and Story Telling."

Representing YCBN, Executive Director Mr. Frank Mwanje joined youth leaders and civil society stakeholders to advance adolescent health, accurate SRHR information, storytelling, and stronger partnerships with Youth Chaperon Uganda and Amity for Humanity.

Community Ownership and Behavioral Change for Improved WASH in Africa

YCBN hosted an insightful international Google Meet discussion on community-led approaches and behavioral change for sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions across African communities.

The session was hosted by YCBN Public Relations Officer Simon Peter Kigozi of Uganda and featured keynote speaker Josephine Temitope Igbekeloluwa, Founder of Betalife Initiative in Lagos, Nigeria.

Strategic Partnership: YCBN Visits CEHURD Leadership

The YCBN team paid a courtesy visit to Ms. Nakibuuka Noor Musisi, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD), in Gayaza.

The meeting laid a foundation for joint grant fundraising, collaborative initiatives, and awareness campaigns around SRHR and Menstrual Hygiene Management. Special commendation goes to Mr. Siraje for initiating the engagement.

Celebrating Impact: YCBN at the 8th National Good Deeds Day

On Friday, April 10, 2026, the YCBN team joined the 8th National Good Deeds Day Celebration at The Olive School, Namugongo, under the theme, "The Power of Young People in Building a World of Doing Good."

The vibrant event featured exhibitions, performances, tree planting, and community giving, creating an opportunity to celebrate collective generosity and connect with fellow changemakers.

Strategic Partnership: YCBN Engages with the Uganda Red Cross Society

On March 11, 2026, the YCBN team held a high-level engagement with the Uganda Red Cross Society at its head office in Rubaga. The meeting explored meaningful collaboration on specific projects and opportunities to build strong institutional alliances.

The visit marked another step toward expanding YCBN's network and driving large-scale, impactful community initiatives.

Empowering the Next Generation: Pre-International Women's Day at Princess Diana High School

On March 5, 2026, the YCBN team joined Wezesha Girls Network and partner networks at Princess Diana High School in Munyonyo for an inspiring Pre-International Women's Day celebration under the theme, "Give to Gain - She Rises When We Give."

Through mentorship, community engagement, and direct support, the event created space to share resources and empower girls to rise, lead, and shape a brighter future.

Call for Partners: Hand Washing Training and Material Distribution Campaign

YCBN has issued a Call for Partners for its campaign running from June 20 to July 1, 2026 across Wakiso District, equipping schools, health facilities, markets, and public spaces with essential hygiene resources.

The campaign theme is "Clean Hands, Healthy Communities: WASH as the First Line of Defense Against Antimicrobial Resistance." Government agencies, NGOs, companies, development partners, media organizations, and well-wishers are invited to join.

YCBN Takes Part in Good Deeds Day Preparations at Olive School-Namugongo

YCBN Public Relations Officer Mr. Simon Peter Kigozi took part in the official preparation meeting for Good Deeds Day at Olive School-Namugongo. The April 2026 event will bring together change-makers and partner organizations under the motto, "Think Good: Speak Good: Do Good."

YCBN Recognized for Pre-International Women's Day Celebrations

YCBN was officially recognized as part of the Pre-International Women's Day Celebrations organized by Wezesha Girls Network - Uganda under the theme, "Give to Gain - She Rises When We Give."

The event brought together youth networks, community leaders, and partner organizations on March 5, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Princess Diana High School - Munyonyo to empower girls and drive inclusive community impact.

YCBN Joins Civil Society Stakeholders for Child Safeguarding and Advocacy Engagement

YCBN representatives participated in a high-level stakeholder engagement hosted by Transcend Africa Foundation alongside Brave Movement Uganda at Lishi Resort Hotel in Kyanja.

Community leaders, security representatives including the Uganda Police Force, and youth advocates discussed strategies for combating Childhood Sexual Violence and strengthening safeguarding networks. YCBN remains committed to child protection, safety, and community healing.

The meeting also opened opportunities for YCBN to connect with coalitions and civil society organizations for upcoming collaborative initiatives, marking a new chapter in expanding our network and community impact.

Strengthening Community Ties: YCBN Visits Youth Plus Elite Club

As part of YCBN's commitment to grassroots collaboration, the team engaged with our sister organization, Youth Plus Elite Club, in Kitebi. The visit created space to connect, share experiences, and explore collaborative ways to empower youth, drive community innovation, and build sustainable impact together.

How Small NGOs Can Compete for Large Funding Opportunities

YCBN convened a continental online dialogue equipping emerging organizations with practical strategies for winning major grants. The session was hosted and moderated by Mr. Simon Peter Kigozi and featured keynote speaker Ms. Margaret Gitau, Founder and Lead Consultant at NobleCause Consultancy Firm in Nairobi, Kenya.

The discussion explored five pillars of competitive positioning: governance, financial systems, impact evidence, digital credibility, and funding diversification, alongside the Pain-Gap-Stakes model and a 90-day action plan.
